ART VS. CANCER

Andy Pop by Karen Bystedt This Means War.jpg

Since 1999, the PHASE ONE Foundation has raised over $20 million for clinical trials in cancer research, which has led to big triumphs in pancreatic cancer, pediatric sarcomas, breast cancer & more.

We are excited to announce our second Art vs. Cancer event - an evening of art, food, and giving back. Last year PHASE ONE raised over $48,000 and there were 100+ works of art donated to benefit cancer research in a silent auction. This year’s event is chaired by Diane Allen of Diane Allen Presents and participating artists include Donald Robertson, Punk Me Tender, Jimon Aframian, YESNIK, Mambo, Moncho1929, Karen Bystedt, Matt Smiley, Kelly Styne, Martin Durazo and many more!

Queen Beats will be DJing while guests get hands on by coloring an original mural by artist Ed Massey and participating in live art by Daniel Dugan. Guests will also enjoy delicious tacos by Otro Dia Tacos, gelato by Baccio di Latte and cookies by Zooies, with drinks provided by Boomtown Brewery and Drink Babe.

There is also a stellar raffle where guests can win a $500 gift card to Elephante Beach House in Santa Monica! The raffle also includes prizes from Casa Del Mar, The GREAT., Migonne Gavigan, Flores Lane, Heyday Skincare, Gloveworx, and The Blending Lab.

This year's event, being held on Wednesday, November 13 at Various Small Fires and is sure to be another TOTAL KNOCK OUT!

PRIVACY DIARIES ON HOUSE OF BARON

New mini-documentary series demand change in a step toward bringing privacy back around the globe. WATCH NOW ON YOUTUBE.
“On one side, you have the pressure that says if you’re not part of social media, you don’t exist. In my field as an actor, it’s really hard to say I’m going to be off Facebook or off of Instagram. You’re kind of forced to play the game, but at the same time, you know you have zero control over it” — said Neyssan Falahi, who works in the entertainment industry. “I’ve heard a lot of stories from friends of mine who got their identity stolen. It’s pretty scary. If something happens to you, who’d you ask for help? Is the police going to do something about it? Probably not” — the artist added.

Falahi is one of nearly thirty artists who have volunteered to share on camera what privacy means to them in their everyday lives and discuss the double-edged sword of giving up personal data to use free services for email, messaging, and social media. This is how a new mini-documentary series titled “Privacy Diaries” was created. The series, which was directed by Katharina Baron Kowalewski, highlights people’s biggest concerns surrounding lack of privacy and user control in today’s digital world.

During a time when loss of trust is at an all-time high, people everywhere are joining a worldwide movement in creating a global society connected by true privacy. Those who are interested in joining it can do so using the hashtag #bringingprivacyback.
